hey-ho let's go!
ages since i've written the last few words on my latest experiences out there...
i have been busy travelling around the northern part of germany for a week - well, it's already a whole week gone by since my return to my beloved girlfiend and therefore augsburg.
i was in berlin for a couple of days to visit my good friend franzi over there. it was a bloody good time we had there. i stayed over at her place in kreuzberg which was really lovely (and thanx thanx thanx again for a real nice stay, franzi!). not too much sightseeing for me, as i'd been to berlin several times before and i saw quite a lot back then. but for the first time i had the chance to cycle around town - on a beautiful and very relaxing "hollandrad" - and as the weather was perfect for such a task i did very well in doing "flo's biketour". it was quite different from getting to know that city by walking (which is my usual way of doing that) and i really enjoyed it very much.
for the first time i went to see the holocaust memorial and i was really excited: it's a very well planned and structured memorial and definitely a good thing to be there and make people rembember the holocaust. there were so many arguments beforehand about building it or not or how and why and so on, but i think it's a perfect, somehow abstract memorial that causes the right emotions and thoughts while wallking through.
we didn't go out that much, but i went on a great concert with franzi, where we saw the stars, koufax, supergrass and the stereo mc's. almost all of these bands were really good and worth the 20 euro we spent on them. the most surprising act were the stereo mc's, those old and used and drugged masters of rave, which really rocked the whole crowd. we were shaking our booties up until 3 in the morning. so, if you've got the chance to check them out once i hereby recommend them! another highlight was supergrass. they had a more unplugged set, which wasn't that rocking and they mostly presented songs of their new album (very good by the way: road to rouen) - extremly relaxed atmosphere (lampshades and dimmed light) and some good musicians, great voice and great sound.
on my last night in berlin - before leaving to hamburg - we went on some kind of spoken word performance by a group called the "unenthusiasten" - if i recall that correctly - which was a nice bunch of authors reading their own texts, some of them really good, some rather good, others quite boring. but the people and the atmosphere there was very pleasing and nice.
the next morning i "rushed" to hamburg with the german rail. i was in quite a hurry so that i could meet my cousin olli and i was really glad that my train was only half an hour late and not more (as usual). well, i went for coffee with my cousin then spent a night at marie's place in hamburg-othmarschen, which was really lovely (such a fab house and garden...) before finally having a huge party for marie's birthday some thirty kilometres south of hamburg in the middle of nowhere an enormous site - an old cottage house with a garden footballgound-size. nicey-nice. we had a lot of fun partying, although it got freezing cold at night, but there was a fireplace, my self-made chili (both vegan and meaty) and some alcohol to keep us warm.
next day i had another long train trip back to auxburg and here i am again sitting at my desk.
and it still took me a week to finally get a grip and write a post on all that stuff. but as i brought the lovely weather down here, anke and i decided to leave for wasserburg last weekend and as there's no dsl there i had to wait until today to write some words. and that was that and is this.
now uni is starting soon, but again i'll leave this country for a week in 10 days or so, hehe. more about that later.
have fun and enjoy yourself!!! life is great ;-)
