oh sweet bavaria!

here you go... the first picture i posted. and it's one of the earliest pictures in my head too: the view from my grandparents' house in wasserburg in the morning. by the way, this is the lake i learnt swimming in.
i'm here at the moment and it's lovely as usual in the summer. very hot and humid and the lake is just a minute's walk away - yeah! indeed a very big contrast to london where i spent my last two or three weeks in england at my good friends verena and alex.
bavaria in the summertime is something i definitely can recommend. i'll post some more pictures soon to make those people jealous who have never been here (and those who come from here shall get homesick, hehe!)
had a busy last week, as i met all my friends, went out every night, spent 2 days in augsburg, went to the countryside yesterday and so on. so it's no wonder i slept so sound and really long last night. just got up 2 hours ago and the first thing i did to wake up was having a swim in the lake - great!!!

as you might imagine, i feel quite fine here in germany again, but on the other hand i miss all my folks back there in england too... it was such a great year over there and something quite different from home! ah, and in thinking of england i hereby want to thank all of those over there who made this year a good one. and some people i want to thank via this blog (no clue if anybody reads it anyway): the first those people who gave me a home in my homeless phase last month, which are specially alex and verena, as i kind of lived in their flat (it was lovely and a very relaxed contrast to busy london outside the flat's windows). and of course clemens has to be thanked loads and loads for having me round his place almost every weekend without complaining once (but hitting me with a frying pan just for the fun of it). and then there was jean-philippe who lend me his flat for some days; and franzi and j-p and verena and alex again who helped with all my suitcases and bags on the way back home; and of course miri who organized a car and so many more people that i can't name all now who made the last year a very pleasant one for me: THANX FOR EVERYTHING.
i'll be happy to return some of these favours once you are around in munich or auxburg...
puh, it's getting hot and the water seems to call out for me. so i think i'll leave the blog a blog and dive into the lake once again...

see you soon.

back in da hometown, yo yo yo !!!

hello out there!!!

i finally made it back to germany and to be more precise: to munich. last sunday my good friend miri and i headed off early in the morning from very sunny and hot london. we got this small fiat punto or something which was filled up until the roof with all our stuff...

we had a quick drive to dover and a easy and very nice ferry journey over the channel. from calais we went straight into france and took the wrong way to end up in brussels two hours later. beforehand our plan was to drive via strasbourg but we thought about visiting brussels anyway, so we took a long break there. we didn't know what to expect and so we just loved it as we arrived in the old part of the city, where one can find lovely old houses, slightly run-down sometimes but with a lot of heart and culture to it. another thing you've got a lot there is turkish shops and restaurants. actually there were so many turkish shops, bars, cafés and restaurants that we decided to rename the town. now it's called "BRÜSSÜL".

after having some food and astroll through this very pittoresque town we got in our 60 to 80° celsius hot car and drove off. we crossed belgium and holland in a couple of hours and finally entered good old german soil at aachen around ninish in the evening. i wanted to drive directly to munich but luckily miri convinced me to stay somewhere over night and so we found this great youth hostel set in an old castle high above koblenz with a great view over the two rivers meeting there (rhine and mosel).

after a short night we had to get on the road again as soon as possible as we had to avoid the heat. and after six hours of driving through god knows how many german states we were back where it all started from (my life, my year abroad,...): MUNICH.

and today (after two days of time to adapt to germany and the cultural shock being back brings with itself) i have to say that i love being back. it's summer, it's hot, i already saw loads of people i haven't seen in ages and i've been swimming and drinking good bavarian beer and so on. am in augsburg at the moment to check all my uni stuff and dates and meet all my good mates here and i'm really enjoying that too...

puh, that was a lot going on for me the last few days. i'm in a hilariously good mood and quite euphoric at the moment and now i'll stop this update as this bloody "cip-pool" is too hot, so i've got to get out and about now.

friends & fun & sound & sun in brighton

hey folks!

just came back to london after 2 lovely days in brighton, where i went to say goodbye to all my friends and all my favourite spots and venues. and i have to say it worked out really fine.

yesterday was a nice and sunny day and i spent a lot of my time at the seafront.
at night i went to a gig at the concorde 2 and we saw two hilarious acts i hereby definitely want to recommend: brakes and buck 65.
brakes were support and playing some really nice straight-forward punky rock, without being too arty-farty as a lot of the other english bands at the moment. very energetic and i think they'll publish their debut album in a couple of weeks - listen to it!!!
the main performer - buck 65 - was just unbelievably good. i wouldn't call his sound hip-hop, as it's much more than that. he does a one-man-show which is very funny and all he needs therefore is a turntable and some samplers. his lyrics are so weird, absurd and utterly funny i stood there concentrating to understand the very last bit and in between i almost laughed my head off. the whole thing - to come to an end now - reminded me of beck's odelay period (if anybody remembers his life shows back then: much rougher than today) and sometimes his voice has a strange resemblance with tom waits. but all in all this is just a bad attempt of me to describe something you should actually listen to yourself...

today i had another relaxing day at the sea and around brighton and a nice last night at the prince albert.

ok, i think this are enough news for today, i finally managed to post my old e-mail to germany from the last 8 months (thanx to cordula for sending me those i thought that were lost!). just to fill up this blog and as a nostalgic view back!

ok. that's it for today, have fun and dance in the sun (if there is no sun then dance to get some; i call it sun-dance and i believe it works)

see you...

in the night

hey folks,
it's already in the middle of the night, but this new toy named blog keeps me awake. i'm still sitting here at the table designing and rearranging words and thinking about the best way to publish and what to publish and and and...
tomorrow i'm going to go brighton for two last days at the sea and i hope the weather will be fine as i don't have anything to do except from relaxing at the seafront, eating some falafel and meet some of my mates for the last time. ahh, it's gonna be wonderful, but hereby i promise i'll shed some tears for all my friends out there who have to work or study or whatever. tomorrow night i'll see buck 65, a really great mc, at the concorde 2. i'm really looking forward to that as i listen to some of his stuff this very moment and i have to say: he's great, that is some really good hip-hop, very unique and advanced; definiteley worth listening in my opinion...
well, let's see how he is performing all that live! SEE YA!!!

old news

english:

i won't repeat that. haven't decided on my official 'blog-language' yet, but it might be german if the majority doesn't complain. or whatever. just decided NOT TO POST my angland-updates as they are documents of the past and who wants to live in the past except from strange people running around in a mod-costume and wearing funny clothes like half the population of brighton...!?

hello/goodbye

it's sad. i say hello to this blog and everybody reading it, and at the same time i'm going to say goodbye to england very soon as my time here has come to an end. it's a pity i didn't have this blog before coming here. but as i don't have that many news now and as i have to figure out how all this new stuff here works i'm going to post my monthly mail-updates for my german friends tomorrow...
